I recently moved to vegas and I lived at the Budget Suites on Boulder Highway/Indios for the first 2 months i was here. It really wasnt that bad. I paid about $200 a week all utilities included. I didnt see anything shocking and all the neighbors pretty much stay to themselves. How long are you planning on staying there? I would advise you to avoid the inexpensive non-casino hotels, and go with the casino hotels. I've stayed in some of the cheapest ones downtown, like the El Cortez and Las Vegas Club, and they are always very clean and inexpensive with a nice big room. They aren't fancy, the blankets and sheets might be a little worn, the bathroom will be a plain, simple thing maybe with tiles that aren't perfectly lined up, but they are CLEAN and decent places to stay, and you will save some $$$.
