Daniel asked:
I am planning to stay at Las Vegas MGM Grand Hotel, I’m going with 4 friends and I checked the rates and its way cheaper if i put 2 people instead of 4. Has anyone tried this before? You get the same room regardless if its 2 or 4, but do they actually keep an eye out for this type of thing?

I do it all the time just go in and leave a couple seconds after each other. worst case scenario deny everything and say they drank to much and just stayed the night.

I have done it plenty of times. They do not care. Just don’t be to obvious about it. Also they can not really prove if you have extra people. If you are asked just say that they are friends from in town seeing the room.

That would be stealing, and unethical, if not illegal. If you can’t afford this vacation, then you’ll need to save up until you can, like everyone else. And, BTW, you may not end up getting sufficient bedding for four people if you only reserve for two.

If you do this tip the maid well I would not.
you may be better staying at a cheaper hotel and getting 2 rooms this would also be more comftable try Exaclibur just accross the way

Yes security does watch as people go into the elevator, especially at night, whether they are the kiosp or on camera. You have to have a “key” at night to cross the security check.
IF you get caught they could evict you or charge you more. Be smart register four people and pay the diff even if it means a little less money to gamble.

I can’t believe some of the answers given so far. What more do four people use in a room than two? Security doesn’t have time to count the people in the room … OMG .. with over 4000 rooms at the MGM … you got to be kidding that security will check. How much time do people actually spend in their room in Vegas? Go for it.. if you don’t cause trouble .. what difference does it make. You paid for the room .. use it properly.

= Personally, I would think if you have two room keys and you go in two at a time it would be difficult to get caught unless there is a complaint. I agree about tipping the maid.

= IMHO four people sharing a hotel bathroom and two beds is not a quality experience. Why not go across the street and get two rooms at the Tropicana, or Hooters, or Motel 6, or Best Value inn, or Travel Lodge and just hang out at the MGM Grand.
There is an all suite place across the street called Desert Rose Inn (Shell Hospitality) where you can get a two bedroom suite with two bathrooms.
With this downturn in the economy a midweek room in Las Vegas is a relatively cheap commodity. One large downtown casino is giving them away for $26 / night.

Several strip hotels do watch for this kind of thing, and I have seen people caught for it by security.
Oftentimes, housekeeping has a list of which rooms are occupied, by how many people, for how many nights, etc. So they could notice if there are more people in the room and they are often told to watch for it. If you do it, tip the maid well.
If you get 2 room keys and always go in groups of 2, then you may not have trouble. And make sure that only 2 people go check in! But do know that you could be caught.
I agree that it’s safer, and much more honest, to just pay for the extra people or go to a cheaper hotel.

It’s too crowded to just spy and check on 4 people…Come on i went in January and there were 9 of us and we only paid for half of us.. Vegas is to packed and crowded to be checking on room capacity. GO FOR IT!
