Circus-Circus is awful. It really is. If you have a car, stay at a hotel that’s not on the strip. Summerlin Resort is wonderful, as is Suncoast. Otherwise, the second cheapest room in Tropican is okay (the cheapest rooms suck, though)….Luxor is a great hotel…little bit more expensive, but it’s totally worth it. MGM is running some specials if you stay certain nights….visit their website to see if you qualify.

It’s all relative. Circus Circus is an old hotel on the old strip. The rooms are likely to be somewhat rundown and worn out. But as the guy from Motel 6 says, “the rooms are all the same when the lights are off”. Having stayed in some bad hotels, I know that statement isn’t exactly true, but I have a hard time justifying $300 a night when there are rooms to be had for less than $100.
I would recommend trying to book a room through a site like Hotels.com or Priceline. You’ll often get a decent room at a decent price. Also, if you stay for more than 1 night you will often get a better price - especially if you book 3 nights and one is a weekday.

Try Gold Coast, it’s off-strip but they have a shuttle to the strip. THey have great reviews and the price range is about the same as CIrcus Circus.

The best kept secret in Las Vegas is the private residences.
There are luxury designer residences much less expensive than the hotels, and nicer too. chezpaulina dot com has several that also have free long distance calls, free cable TV and free wireless internet.

Tropicana and stratosphere are decently cheap … and quality.. but lately I have been hearing alot of shady stuff about hotel maid service … just dont use the glasses in the bathrooms no matter where you go..

circuc circus is fine. I stayed there several times. Used to live in NJ and moved here in 2006. Would come out and check jobs and houses. For a place to stay, shower and then go out all day long. It is fine. The taco pizza is great, near the adventure dome. One of the best steak houses in LV and you need a reservation.
Buffet marginal. THen it is time to visit one of the other resorts.
But it is affordable and you can have fun. It is a clean place

I wouldn’t recommend staying at Circus Circus. A lot of people stay their with their families/kids. I have heard the rooms are not very clean. It would be worth the little bit extra to stay somewhere else.
I have stayed at the Riviera before. I enjoyed my stay there. The rooms were clean, the service was great and the pool was nice. It was one of the cheaper places to stay at when I went. I would stay there again. We were at the end of the strip, but just got an all day bus pass for $5 and caught the bus to go further down the strip.
I have also stayed at the Imperial Palace. It’s in a great location, but I can honestly say I was much more impressed with the room and service at the Riviera.

YES, Circus Circus is horrible!!!! The Luxor and Excaliber are not much better. It broke my heart when that group bought out Mandalay Bay. However, Mandalay has kept up their quality- check their rate calendar. You can usually find decent deals (under 200) Monday - Thursday. The rooms are great (best bathrooms in Vegas), wave pool/beach for their pool, and great reseraunts (not to mention fantastic room service). The Mirage is nice and fairly economic also.

Do not stay in Circus Circus. It is a fun place to visit, but the rooms aren’t that great and it is far away from the heart of the strip. Stay in Excalibur for as low as $51 night. Take a look at the promotion codes for the hotels at
or
You can find some very affordable deals. I recommend staying on the South side of the strip where everything is. Have Fun! Remember, if all else fails, you will be spending very little time in your hotel room, so it won’t be that bad no matter where you stay.
